Who Remembers?
Better Homes & Gardens Cookbooks

Most of us can remember our mother (or grandmother) having one of these cookbooks hanging around the kitchen. The Better Homes & Gardens Cookbook was a kitchen staple at one time with its classic red and white checkered hard-cover binder (packed with around 400 pages of recipes and kitchen help).

I was married in 1972 and received a BHG cookbook, that I am sharing images near the bottom of this page.

SPRINGERLE ...
a type of German biscuit with an embossed design made by pressing a mold onto rolled dough and allowing the impression to dry before baking. This preserves the detail of the surface pattern. My grandmother wrote the family recipe on this page.
